A Foodbank will be able to step up its community work thanks to a loan-car donated by Kia Motors.
The Walton & Hersham Foodbank helped almost 1,500 people during last year in the local area and the car will allow even speedier collections by volunteers in the future.
Jackie Lodge, Chief Executive of Walton Charity says: “Kia’s generous support of our local community is greatly appreciated by Walton Charity. We are delighted to work in partnership with Kia and our local foodbank. The donation of a cee’d Sportswagon will make a huge difference to the foodbank’s work, helping local people in need.”
“We are very pleased to be able to help the local community,” says Dana Dakroury, CSR Coordinator at Kia. “All the staff here have contributed to the food bank scheme in the last few years and we will continue to do so.”
As longstanding supporters of Walton Charity, the Kia Staff have taken part in other fundraising initiatives for Walton Charity. One of the most notable Kia charity events was The Walk to Seoul, which raised £40,000. The staff were provided with pedometers to record their steps with a pound being donated for every mile. This money helped to purchase a residence for locals with housing difficulties.
Kia aims to do the same again this year, with The Grand Tour of Europe having recently been launched.
