More Vauxhalls Than You Could Shake a Stick At

The grounds of the famous Beaulieu Motor museum may have been rather sodden on Sunday but that didn’t do anything to put off the fans and owners of massive selection of Vauxhalls. People flocked to the event known as Simply Vauxhall, to enjoy, ogle and show off every kind of Vauxhall you could think of.

Generations

There were a cars on display from as far back as the 1920s and right up to new models and more recent classics. One vintage highlight was a very rare 1926 Vauxhall Velox on display which had spent time as a police car in Australia before returning to the UK in 2002. Other older models like two original Vivas from the 1970s were also on show. These were seen in stark contrast to a number of VX220s with their Lotus like styling, as well as a stunning example of the mighty Lotus Carlton.

Wall to Wall

With over 100 cars present the range of models was impressive. There were a number of VXR cars from Corsas to Astras and Vectras, these sports versions always make a popular choice and it was great to see them being looked after. Not all the cars on show were sporty however, Zafiras, Cavaliers, and Insignias all made an appearance. Many Vauxhall fans enjoyed a good look round some well maintained Calibras too, these sleek sports tourers were oozing 90’s cool as always. For those who like a bit a power no Vauxhall show would be complete with out a V8 Monaro, these Australian born bruisers certainly show the Americans that they are not the only people who make muscle cars.

Clubs

Many people never realise there is an owners club for pretty much every type of car out there. These clubs are not only filled with a mix of members from different backgrounds but they are also in mine of knowledge. Members know about every inch of their chosen model and can prove an invaluable source of help. The event saw various clubs from the Vectra C and MK3 Cavalier owners clubs to Signum club and many more.

Simply Vauxhall is one of many shows that Beaulieu hosts each year and despite the terrible rain and wind it was great to see such a unique and exciting array of models from this important British Marque.
