The Nissan Qashqai has reaffirmed its spot as the nation’s favourite crossover after having been named the Most Popular Crossover at this year’s Honest John Awards.
Picking up the accolade during the awards ceremony at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire last night, this is the latest in a long string of prizes that the British-built Qashqai has taken home.
The Honest John Awards are calculated based on the models most searched for on the website by the public, which the site says gives a true reflection of the cars that most appeal to real drivers.

Dan Harrison, Honest John editor, said: “The Qashqai is the UK’s first crossover, but Nissan has not rested on its laurels, with its latest model surpassing the original on every level, with sleeker looks, better engines and more interior space.
“In our opinion the Qashqai is one of the best crossovers money can buy and our readers clearly agree. Over the past 12 months our readers have viewed the Nissan Qashqai more than any other crossover.”
Since it was first released, the Qashqai has picked up and incredible number of awards, having been named the Best Small SUV by What Car? magazine earlier this year among other prizes.
In January, it was also named the safest small family car that money can buy by independent safety testing organisation Euro NCAP, thanks to its class-leading range of safety systems and technology.
According to Euro NCAP, the Qashqai features unparalleled protection for both its occupants and for pedestrians, with maximum points awarded for protection of all body regions.
Alongside this, Nissan’s extensive Safety Shield suite of highly advanced active and passive safety features also proved to be extremely popular with the organisation.
Offering drivers and occupants high levels of protection, just some of the features include forward emergency braking to avoid impending collisions and automatically dipping full-beam lights.
James Wright, Managing Director of Nissan UK, said: “Receiving an award like this, based on real search data and not on subjective opinions, is fantastic.

“It demonstrates clearly just how much the Qashqai appeals to motorists and the phenomenal levels of interest it generates.”
He added: “To be topping the search polls more than a year after its launch, shows just how far ahead of the competition it was and remains.”
The Nissan Qashqai is available to buy from Perrys Nissan dealerships now, with prices starting from just £18,265 for the entry-level Visia trim.
