Peugeot 308 SW named ‘Best Estate to Lease’

The Peugeot 308 SW has officially been named the Best Estate Car to Lease at the first-ever Car of the Year Awards.

Recognising the achievements of manufacturers and their vehicles, the awards were set up by the website to root out the best leasing cars on the market and to celebrate the site’s 15th year.

“Vastly superior driving dynamics”

James Fossdyke, of ContractHireAndLeasing, said: “The new Peugeot 308 is a huge improvement on the old car, with chic styling and vastly superior driving dynamics, but the SW estate variant turns the Golf/Focus rival from challenger to market leader.

“The 660-litre boot is nothing short of cavernous and the 308 SW is one of the few estates to look better than the hatchback it’s based on.”

Each car shortlisted for the awards was put through an extensive series of tests and heavy consideration by a team of judges, comprised of journalists and car industry professionals.

Of all the estate models considered by the awards’ judges, the Peugeot 308 SW stood head and shoulders above its competition, thanks to its premium features and stylish good looking exterior.

Managing director of the site, Dave Timmis, said: “It was only right that we rewarded the very things that the whole industry is based on: the cars.

“A lot of very good models were left by the wayside during the selection process, but that’s testament to how good the winners are.”

This latest accolade is the second award that the 308 estate has won in so many months, after it was named the Best Company Car to Buy by Business Car Manager magazine towards the end of January.

Revealed towards the end of 2013, the 308 proved so popular with buyers that Peugeot had to add an additional shift at its production facilities to keep up with demand.

New upmarket styling

Along with the SW estate, the 308 is also available in hatchback format and benefits from a new lightweight chassis platform to reduce weight and increase its on-road capability.

Reflecting Peugeot’s push upmarket, the new 308 features four trim levels and standard equipment which includes alloy wheels, cruise control and a range of driver assistance aids.

Higher trim levels get dual-zone air conditioning, reversing cameras to help with parking and special sports seats with passenger lumbar support.

Four petrol and five diesel engines are available, along with a choice of next-generation six-speed automatic gearboxes or standard manual transmissions, each with class-leading emissions figures.

The Peugeot 308 range is available to buy from Perrys Peugeot dealerships now, with prices starting from £14,495 for the hatchback and £16,845 for the estate model.
