Jaguar has officially revealed full specs and pricing for the new XE compact saloon.
Following the global unveiling of the top of the range XE S model in London last month, Jaguar has revealed that the basic XE will be priced from £26,995.
With a sleek and stylish exterior design, the XE builds on Jaguar’s reputation for building cars that look as sharp as they perform.
The new XE range features sleek and low coupe-style proportions, with a sculpted bonnet and high waistline on its aluminium-intensive monocoque. LED J-Blade running lights are set into the front, while the rear lights features styling inspired by the legendary Jaguar E-Type.
Designed as a British answer to the German manufacturers dominating the executive class segment, the new XE will be available in five trims: SE, Prestige and Portfolio, plus R-Sport and the range-topping S.
Standard kit across the range includes an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, satnav, cruise control and 17-inch alloy wheels, plus DAB digital radio and a leather steering wheel.
Moving up the trim levels will add extra features including leather upholstery with contrasting stitches, plus blue ambient lighting, heated front seats and brushed aluminium touches on the inside.
The Portfolio model offers buyers the option of extra colours, plus higher-grade leather upholstery. It also adds a Meridian audio system, bi-xenon headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels and adjustable electric front seats.
A sportier theme is present in the R-Sport trim, which comes with a sports steering wheel and subtle rear spoiler, plus chrome trim for the side power vents. It also adds sports suspension and a two-tone finish for the 18-inch alloys.
Finally, the S trim is the most performance-focused XE, with enlarged air intakes on the front bumper, plus extended wheel arches, a rear spoiler and red brake calipers on its 19-inch alloy wheels.
Power comes courtesy of a range of four- and six-cylinder petrol engines, including models from Jaguar’s new in-house produced Ingenium diesel line.
The turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre diesel units are available in 161bhp and 178bhp outputs, with fuel efficiency of up to 75mpg and CO2 emissions of only 99g/km.
Petrol options include a choice 197bhp and 237bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engines, while the range-topping S trim will come with the same 3.0-litre V6 that features in the F-Type model.
The new XE will be available to order in the UK from tomorrow, when the models debut at the Paris Motor Show.
