Tracey Emin to sell art at Vauxhall boot fair

Internationally renowned artist Tracey Emin is to sell some of her artwork from the back of a Vauxhall.

Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair

She’s due to join fellow professionals from the art world preparing to sell limited edition works at the Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair.

The fair will be part of the opening weekend of the Folkestone Triennial and will take place on August 30th in the Kent town.

Emin will create exclusive embroidered artworks exclusively for the fair, along with posters and sculptures. She’ll also be joined by other famous artists including Gavin Turk, Mat Collishaw and James Unsworth.

The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair already made an appearance at the opening weekend of the Liverpool Biennial last month.

The Fair is famous for being a day that the art world is allowed to let its hair down and also is a great opportunity for buyers to purchase artworks exclusive to the event.

Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair founder and curator, Karen Ashton, said: “Having established the Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair as a dynamic and thrilling art marketplace as well as a thoroughly entertaining afternoon for all our art loving visitors in London.

“It made perfect sense to take our show on the road to engage with new audiences and new artists around the country, and we are delighted to be embraced by the Folkestone Triennial.”

Specially customised Vauxhall Vivaro

As well as the wide range of artists, artworks and attractions, Vauxhall will also be bringing along a specially customised Vivaro van packed full of art and will offer visitors the chance to view and buy art, as well as create some of their own.

The Vivaro has not only proved a hit with the arty types, but also with businesspeople like Dragons Den star Kelly Hoppen MBE, who received a new Vivaro back in April.

Perhaps artist Tracey, famed as much for her feminism as her artwork, will be pleased to hear that Hoppen believes the Vivaro has appeal across the gender divide.

She said: “It is clear that more and more women are driving vans these days as they are running their own businesses. Perhaps the white van man is a thing of the past.”

As well as that, a new Vivaro model is available to order now, equipped with a range of class-leading diesel engines, including the cutting edge Bi-Turbo engine.

The Bi-Turbo unit ensures optimum pulling power and delivers up to 47.9mpg while keeping CO2 emissions as low as 155g/km.

Deliveries of the new model will start from the end of this summer and prices for the new model will start at £17,995 for the panel van version.
