Citroen and Arsenal extend partnership

Citroen has announced that it has signed a new three-year partnership deal with Arsenal Football Club. The new contract means that the French manufacturer will continue its role as the Club’s Official Automotive Partner until at least 2017.

Citroen has been Arsenal’s Official Automotive Partner since 2008. The latest contract extension will retain significant branding presence for Citroen around Arsenal’s home, the Emirates Stadium. Citroen will also build upon its partnership programme with a range of new marketing, digital, dealer and promotional activities.

Arsenal coaches to receive award-winning Citroen cars

As part of its continuing role as Automotive Partner, Citroen will supply a number of vehicles for Arsenal coaches and other members of staff. They will be able to pick from a selection of different award-winning Citroen cars, including the new C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso. Staff will also be able to pick from models in Citroen’s DS line.

In the not-too-distant future, staff at Arsenal Football Club will also receive examples of the next-generation Citroen C1 and the all-new C4 Cactus.

Several Citroen vans, including the new Relay, will also assist in transporting equipment around the country and supporting Arsenal’s community outreach programmes.

The Managing Director for Citroen UK, Linda Jackson, commented: “Citroen and Arsenal have enjoyed a positive and successful partnership since 2008 and we’re delighted to be continuing that association.

“This is a very exciting time for the Citroën brand and we look forward to sharing our fresh thinking and excitement for our new models with Arsenal and the Club’s loyal fan community.”

The Sales and Marketing Director at Arsenal Football Club, Vinai Venkatesham, said: “Citroen continue to bring tremendous enthusiasm to our association and we have enjoyed a hugely successful partnership since 2008.

“We look forward to working closely with them to develop new ideas and engaging projects focused at Arsenal fans as well as the wider football community.”

New Citroen C1 to launch in July

The arrival of the new C1 and C4 Cactus to the Club’s fleet is a particularly interesting development. The new C1 is set to launch to the UK market this July, while the C4 Cactus arrives in October.

The new C1, starting pricing at £8,245, will be offered not just as a hatchback but also with a retractable soft-top roof for the first time. The C4 Cactus is one of the most unique-looking entries for the compact crossover market segment and also boasts class-leading efficiency.

Arsenal is not the only football club in England to have a sponsorship deal with a car manufacturer. Currently Chevrolet is a sponsor for Manchester United, while Vauxhall recently started a partnership with Liverpool Football Club.
