Ford have announced that they’re releasing under two thousand limited edition 50th Anniversary Ford Mustangs. The limited edition Mustang will be based n the original V8-powered, hard-top fastback version of the car.
Ford are creating exactly 1,964 Limited edition Mustangs to celebrate the year the first generation Ford Mustang was released (1964).
Along side the Anniversary Edition, Ford are also building a one of a kind special edition convertible version.
Ford Mustang Convertible to be given away in raffle
The Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible will be a raffle prize at the 2014 Woodward Dream Cruise held in Detroit. The winner of this car will be announced on the day of this show which takes place on August 16th. Proceeds made by the show, including the raffle for the Mustang, will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
New Generation Ford Mustang
The new-generation Ford Mustang will be officially sold in the UK market in right-hand drive starting from early 2015. The first 130 UK examples of the Mustang will be made available to order on May 24th this year during the UEFA Champions League football final.
The 50th Anniversary Edition of the Mustang will only be available in left-hand drive. Other then the folding fabric roof, the one-off convertible version of the Anniversary Edition is practically the same as all the hard-top examples.
Each Anniversary Edition uses a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine with 420bhp, mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Exclusive design features for the Anniversary Edition includes a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel, plus two-tone black leather upholstery.
A 50 Year badge will also be individually etched on the passenger side of the Mustang limited edition models.
Updates for the 50th Anniversary Edition’s exterior includes additional chrome detailing around the rear lights, a feature inspired by the first-generation Mustang. Each buyer of the Mustang Anniversary Edition will also get a unique owner’s guide in a leather portfolio.
The standard 2015 Mustang range for the UK will include not just the 420bhp V8 engine, but also a less powerful but more efficient 2.3-litre Ecoboost petrol unit delivering 305bhp. Pricing for the new Mustang will be confirmed close to its launch date.
