DieselCar Magazine Car of the Year Awards 2014
The new Nissan Qashqai has won two accolades at the DieselCar Magazine Car of the Year Awards 2014. The in-demand family car was victorious not only in the Best crossover category but also took the main Car of the Year accolade.
The 2014 DieselCar Awards were voted on by a panel of experienced writers and judges who have tested more than 200 new diesel-powered vehicles over the past year.
Launched during the start of this year, the new-generation Nissan Qashqai is available with an impressively frugal 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine which can produce 109bhp or 128bhp. The 109bhp version returns a combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg and CO2 emissions of just 99g/km, which results in free Vehicle Excise Duty.
The Editor and Publisher of DieselCar magazine, Ian Robertson, commented: “This year, there were several talented contenders that could quite easily have scooped the top award.
“I am so pleased to be able to announce Nissan’s Qashqai as DieselCar Magazine’s Car of the Year 2014. Not only is it the leader in its segment, it was the creator, and deserves every single accolade that it is awarded”.
Nissan Qashqai Range
The Nissan Qashqai range also features a 1.2-litre petrol unit producing 113bhp. This particular unit returns a combined fuel economy of 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 129g/km.
A 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 148bhp is due to be added to the Qashqai line-up in autumn 2014. This engine in the Qashqai will produce CO2 emissions of 132g/km.
There are four trim levels for the Qashqai range, starting with the basic ‘Visia’ trim and followed by ‘Acenta’, ‘Acenta Premium’ and ‘Tekna’.
Nissan Qashqai Equipment
Standard equipment in the Nissan Qashqai range includes cruise control, air conditioning and a five-inch infotainment system.
The Acenta trim adds dual-zone automatic air conditioning, 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers and front fog lamps. Leather trim for the steering wheel and gear knob is also added with this trim.
Move up to the Acenta Premium trim and the Qashqai will also feature the latest version of the NissanConnect infotainment system supported with a DAB radio, parking sensors and a rear view camera. A panoramic glass roof is also added as standard.
The range-topping Tekna trim versions of the Qashqai include 19-inch alloy wheels, heated and partial-leather seats and Safety Shield technology with Traffic Signal Recognition.
