New Jaguar XFR-S to mark UK public debut at Goodwood

A prototype of the new Jaguar sport saloon, finished in an Italian Racing Red paintjob, will be driven on the famous Goodwood track by the Jaguar test driver and 1988 Le Mans 24 Hour race winner Andy Wallace.

First revealed back during November last year in Los Angeles, the Jaguar XFR-S represents the fastest sports saloon ever from the British brand to reach production.

At the press day in Goodwood, the XFR-S will be presented alongside some classic Jaguar racing cars from the company’s proud history.

Other models appearing at the event includes the 1962 Jaguar Mk. II prepared by Jaguar Heritage Racing, and a 1954 ‘short nose’ Jaguar D-Type, specifically chassis No.1 which like the XFR-S attending is also a development prototype.

Jaguar’s Global Brand Director, Adrian Hallmark, commented: “I’m delighted that Jaguar is able to present the XFR-S in action for the first time in the UK, and that a Jaguar motorsport hero will be behind the wheel”.

He added: “The crowd at Goodwood will have a unique opportunity to see and hear the ultimate expression of seductive Jaguar design and sporting performance in the XFR-S, well in advance of first deliveries to customers this summer”.

The new Jaguar XFR-S is available to order in the UK now, priced from £79,995.

It is the second Jaguar to go on sale with the performance R-S badge, following the arrival of the XKR-S coupe back in 2011.

The XFR-S is targeting other performance saloons like the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E-Class AMG.

Under its bonnet the XFR-S utilises a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine like the unit found in other Jaguar models including the XFR, XJ Supersport and the XKR-S.

In the XFR-S however the engine is more powerful in comparison, offering as much as 542bhp to wield.

This allows the five-door XFR-S to cover the 0-60mph sprint in just 4.4 seconds, and it can also reach an electronically limited top speed of 186mph. Even though the V8 engine has more power, it returns the same fuel economy figures and CO2 emissions as the less powerful Jaguar XFR.

UK motorists can view and purchase new models from the Jaguar XF range at Perrys Jaguar Dealerships found in Halifax and Huddersfield.
