Facelifted Renault Kangoo revealed for 2013

The compact Renault Kangoo, which is currently amongst the leading competitors in the European van market, returns with the release of a brand new Phase 2 models which covers the whole range.

That means the updates apply to the standard commercial Kangoo Van, and the Kangoo Maxi passenger transporter, as well as to the Kangoo Van ZE and Kangoo Maxi ZE, the purely electric powered equivalents.

The most noticeable changes include the introduction of a new front end which incorporates the styling cues of Renault’s new design language, with a more prominent, vertically positioned logo. The new design highlights its robustness and modernity.

New door mirrors and headlights blend more harmoniously with the vehicle’s overall lines and the cabin, too, benefits from a new design in the form of a superior quality centre console and new steering wheel.

The updated Kangoo range also benefits from a connected multimedia system thanks to the introduction of Renault’s R-Link gadget. The R-Link is standard equipment on Kangoo sport models but is otherwise optional on other specifications.

This system incorporates the in-built satellite navigation previously available for Phase 1 Kangoo. It also adds other new functions, such as advance warning of hazardous zones and the ability to download applications like the reading out of e-mails.

The R-Link also supports radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, while higher-range Kangoo models also get a CD player.

Engine options for the regular Kangoo and Kangoo Maxi include a 75bhp dCi diesel unit and another similar unit with 90bhp. Both units feature fuel-saving stop-start engine technology, which allow them to achieve a combined fuel consumption of 65.7mpg, while CO2 emissions are from around just 112g/km.

The Kangoo ZE models continue to be driven by a 59bhp electric motor, which offers a projected range of up to 125 miles. For the Phase 2 model the zero emission powertrain has been altered so that the socket for the battery charger is now located behind the logo, at the front.

By plugging in the cable provided, owners can benefit from a complete charge in between six and nine hours using a Wall Box at their home or at a roadside charging station.

Driving features included on the updated Kangoo range includes an enhanced electronic stability programme combined with Hill Start Assist.

Pricing for the Renault Kangoo range currently begins from £8,950 in Britain.
