2013 Mazda6 range ready for launch

Prices for petrol models will start at £19,595 on-the-road for the 2.0-litre 142bhp Saloon SE, rising to £24,865 for the 2.0-litre 161ps Tourer Sport Nav. Diesel variants start at £21,795 for the 2.2-litre 150bhp Saloon SE through to £28,045 for the 2.2-litre 172bhp Tourer Sport Nav Auto.

The new third-generation Mazda6 is the first production model by the manufacturer to feature its i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system.

Fitted as standard to the majority of Mazda6 models sold in the UK, this innovative system can boost economy by up to 10 percent, depending on driving conditions.

This useful i-ELOOP technology joins other fuel-saving innovations include Mazda’s ‘i-stop’ stop-start engine technology, and the Skyactiv design applied to the powertrains, chassis and body, the latter of which first featured on the Mazda CX-5.

The Skyactiv technology includes bringing a stiffer chassis and body structure to the Mazda6, which subsequently benefits from greater proportions of high and ultra-high tensile steels.

The steering and suspension combine low-speed agility with high-speed stability and responsiveness to driver input – at a level of precision unparalleled in the CD-segment. In addition to being quieter and more aerodynamic, the all-new Mazda6 will also be a segment leader in terms of safety.

All of this allows the Mazda6 family car achieve an impressive fuel economy figure of up to 67.3mpg, as well as keep CO2 emissions as low as 108g/km, all without comprising performance. This is what you get when choosing the 150bhp 2.2-litre Skyactiv diesel.

For the quickest pace, Mazda6 buyers should look to the 172bhp Skyactiv diesel option, connected to the standard six-speed manual gearbox as opposed to the optional automatic transmission. In this set-up, the Mazda6 can cover the 0-60mph sprint in just 7.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 138mph.

Standard equipment for the new Mazda6 range includes a CD player, air conditioning and cruise control for the basic SE trim. The mid-range SE-L trim and range-topping Sport model adds more luxury kit, including parking sensors, climate control and heated leather seats.

The 2013 Mazda6 range will be available later this week from Perrys Mazda Dealerships based in Barnsley, Blackburn, Huddersfield, Portsmouth and Preston.
