Ford Transit Custom Sport Van variant announced

The Sport Van model comes with a sleek, dynamic exterior, which will complement the van’s impressive carrying capability.

The new version follows in the manufacturer’s line of successful Sport Van models, first introduced in 2007.

The new Sport Van will also be available with a muscular body kit and a colour-coded exterior. That’ll go alongside the van’s body-coloured bumpers, side mirrors and more. The Sport Van’s new look is finished off with 18-inch alloy wheels and twin-bonnet stripes.

Underneath the bonnet will sit a powerful 155PS 2.2-litre Duratorq diesel engine, which is able to deliver 155PS and 385Nm of torque. The van’s interior is finished with partial leather trim, and will be available with Ford’ voice-activated SYNC technology.

David Petts, Ford Britain CV marketing manager, said: “The new Ford Transit Custom Sport Van offers customers a stylish vehicle that makes a bold statement and delivers full Transit functionality and capability that our customers have come to expect.”

The Transit Custom is currently International Van of the Year 2013, and is also available as an ECOnetic model.

The Ford Transit Custom is mid-sized and is able to provide phenomenal fuel economy. The Transit Custom also has an amazing range of safety features, including Ford SYNC’s Emergency Assistance technology.

Emergency Assistance is triggered by an airbag deploying or a fuel pump being cut off. If the driver has a phone connected to SYNC, the technology can use it to contact emergency services and give them the vehicle’s GPS coordinates.

A new Ford Transit Custom is currently available from £18,316 on-the-road.
