The updates for the MX-5, one of the most popular and highly rated convertibles across Europe, include a facelift, a new top-end specification and improved driving enhancements.
At the front Mazda have given the MX-5 a larger and more aggressive-looking front grille, plus a new bumper complete with a chin spoiler which will improve the car’s aerodynamics and therefore the handling as well.
Another new feature at the front of the MX-5 is the ‘pop-up’ active bonnet, which reduces the impact of a passenger collision.
Mazda has also optimised various components inside the MX-5 including the standard six-speed manual transmission, which will now provide a better throttle response for a more responsive and entertaining drive.
Engine options still include a 124bhp 1.8-litre petrol engine and a 157bhp 2.0-litre petrol unit. The latter is available with either the standard manual gearbox or an optional six-speed paddle-shift transmission which offers both manual and fully automatic settings.
The seven model 2013 MX-5 range introduces a new top-line specification, the 2.0-litre Sport Tech Nav model. This introduces a TomTom satellite navigation system to the MX-5 for the first time, the trim level also includes a 5.8″ touch screen and complete multi-media functionality with iPod and Bluetooth supported.
The MX-5 range also gets three new choices of colour, including Sparkling Black Mica, Dolphin Grey Mica and Crystal White Pearlescent.
Standard equipment across the whole MX-5 range includes climate control, electric windows and alloy wheels.
UK motorists will be able to purchase a 2013 model year Mazda MX-5 from Perrys Mazda Dealerships based in Barnsley, Blackburn, Huddersfield, Portsmouth and Preston.
