Based on the feedback from the 50 largest UK contract hire and leasing companies, the world’s best-selling van was named the most reliable for fleet operators.
The iconic Transit moves up from the fourth position it gained in the same survey last year. It also finished just ahead of its more compact counterpart, the Ford Transit Connect, which retained the same second place spot it achieved in this same survey back in 2011.
The two Ford vans were on average the highest rated models for reliability from the businesses ranked the top fifty in the UK based on their fleet size. All together the operators who participated in the Fleet News survey have a combined fleet of 160,000 light commercial vehicles (LCV).
The editor of Fleet News, Stephen Briers, commented on the result: “Ford’s commitment to ensuring the Transit and Transit Connect perform well in the key area of reliability should help strengthen its position as the biggest manufacturer in the UK van market”.
The Ford Transit has been one of the best selling vans in the UK for several decades now. Over six million Transit vans have been produced across three separate platforms since it first launched to the UK back in 1965. Since then it has established itself as one of Britain’s most iconic transport vehicles.
The Fleet News survey also listed the top ten most reliable van manufacturers overall, a result topped by Ford this year after finishing second last year.
The top ten manufacturer list also featured other manufacturers available at Perrys Van Dealerships including Vauxhall, Citroen and Renault, which all finished fourth, fifth and six respectively. Directly following these marques in the top ten reliable van makers list were Nissan, Peugeot and Fiat.
