Many motorists will have already heard of Skyactiv technology but may not know what it is.
With most manufacturers now offering what are known as ‘eco-signatures’, Mazda has gone the extra mile and introduced a whole new efficient technology that builds on the foundations of eco-signatures.
Skyactiv technology uses a combination of efficient engine technology and lightweight body materials to reduce CO2 emissions.
Although this technology is still fairly new, Mazda has already incorporated it into many of its models – The Mazda2 and Mazda3 being just two of them.
However, the cornerstone to Mazda’s Skyactiv success has been with the new Mazda CX-5 SUV and Mazda6 saloon models. These models have fully incorporated the Skyactiv technology and as a result offer lower CO2 emissions.
Both the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda6 also offer the new ‘Kodo’ body language, which offers sporty exterior design cues with strong body contours and highly sculptured V-shaped front ends.
This body language is apparent on the new Mazda CX-5, which as well as delivering ‘Kodo style’, also delivers low CO2 emissions of sub 120g/km.
As Mazda’s Skyactiv technology continues to grow throughout its range, the Japanese brand will become more competitive against lucrative brands like Ford.
