Land Rover encapsulated the best of modern British car design at its press stand, while its public stand featured a European debut for the 2013 Freelander 2 and a global reveal of its revised Land Rover.
Vogue and Autobiography versions of the new Range Rover were available to view alongside the full powertrain range. Also displayed by Land Rover was the special edition Range Rover CSK heritage vehicle, named after Range Rover’s creator Charles Spencer King.
The revised Freelander 2 boasts a reworked interior, making the SUV more comfortable and convenient than ever before. New features include a seven-inch colour touchscreen, a Meridian sound system and tech upgrades including a rear-view camera and a hitch assist guide.
The stand also featured The Double Cab Pick Up which is driven in the opening sequence of the new James Bond film Skyfall by on-screen co-star Eve (Naomie Harris). The Paris Opera also featured a celebration of the Range Rover’s 42-year success story, with the fourth-generation model acting as a centrepiece.[YouTube:GqD0TJeRf8Y]
Geryy McGovern, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer, also accepted two awards at Paris. He was honoured as a ‘European auto industry leader in design’, and accepted an award on behalf of the company as the Range Rover Evoque was named ‘Women’s World Car of the Year’.
McGovern said upon acceptance of the awards: “We are delighted to accept this award, which demonstrates the Range Rover Evoque’s broad appeal globally. The Evoque has been a phenomenal success to date, having won over 120 awards in its first year of being on sale.”
The new Range Rover will be released in 2013, with prices starting from £71,295. The current-generation Range Rover is priced from £69,995.
