Jaguar has dominated the luxury saloon segment over the years with its chic Jaguar XF, XJ and XK models.
However, Jaguar is first to admit that the acclaimed ‘sport car’ flame has been lacking from its range since the success of its luxury saloon models.
As this is the case, Jaguar has introduced an-all new model at this year’s Paris Motor Show – and the British brand is confident it will perk-up the sporty attractiveness of its range and ‘mark the company’s return to the sports car market’.
Just by looking at the new Jaguar F-Type it is clear that sporting credentials have been taken into consideration as its design is largely based on the C-X16 concept, which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor show back in 2011.
As technology continues to grow more sophisticated, concept cars are slowly becoming more of a reality, and the F-Type is a great example of this.
At a glance, the new Jaguar F-Type offers a low ride height, strong body contours and a stretched front end that is slightly reminiscent of the old-school Jaguar E-Type model.
As well as an apparent sporty-driven exterior, the new F-Type also offers a powerful 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine, which is available in both 335bhp and 375bhp power outputs. Jaguar says there will be a meatier 5.0-litre V8 engine will be available at a later date.
Jaguar has also recently announced that the F-Type will be released in a soft-top roadster model at some point after its release.
It will be interesting to see the new Jaguar F-Type appear on the showroom floor in 2013 as it takes on some of the car markets most lucrative sports cars.
