According to Warranty Direct, the Renault Scenic, Peugeot 207 and Citroen C3 Pluriel all offered drivers peace of mind when it comes to owning a used car.
The Renault Scenic is the fifth most reliable car in the UK. Models built between 2003 and 2009 offer one of the lowest ‘incident rates’ at just 17 per cent.
The spacious people carrier also features low repair rates with even the costliest claim falling under £1,000 – ten times less than the most expensive repair of £10,000 for a BMW X7.
Beneath the Renault in the table, the Peugeot 207 supermini is the sixth most reliable car in the UK for models built between 2006 and 2012.
The Citroen C3 Pluriel, a convertible C3 version sold between 2003 and 2010, it the eight most reliable used car in the UK.
It is a strong performance for the French trio as the Mercedes E-Class took top spot. The premium car had an incident rate of just ten per cent.
Warranty Direct managing director, Duncan McClure Fisher, said: “With the imminent opening of the Paris Motor Show, we thought it’d be a good moment to discover which European marque makes the most and least reliable cars.
“Running a car is more expensive than ever, particularly when it moves into its fourth and fifth year and most cars leave the protection of a manufacturer warranty. If you do your research though and buy the right car or at least protect yourself with a warranty, you’re in a much better position.”
