The new 2013 Ford Transit is the latest version of the world’s best-selling panel van and the UK’s most popular van for over 45 years.
The newest model, according to Ford, will see it extend its market lead to over its rivals by increasing the van’s load-carrying ability.
The new 2013 Ford Transit’s load space has been extended by 10 per cent and a new Jumbo van now offers an incredible 15.1 cubic metres of cargo space.
Ford has also expanded the cabin with extra cubby holes and more space for the driver, according to the US manufacturer.
To cope with the extra weight, Ford has revamped the engine range available on the Transit to include a 2.20-litre diesel in 100PS, 125PS and 155PS variations.
The Ford Transit will be available in front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive variations in the UK and with a standard six-speed manual transmission.
“The Transit van is going global, and we’ve made it more productive, more fuel efficient and tougher than ever before,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president Product Development, Ford of Europe.
“With its legendary Transit and E-Series models, Ford has more experience of creating market-leading commercial vans around the world than any other manufacturer, and this all-new Transit will move the game on once again.”
The new 2013 Ford Transit will come with a host of new equipment including Ford’s voice-activated SYNC software that includes emergency assistance and control of satellite navigation and sound systems.
The Ford Transit will also include a rear view camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning.
The new Ford Transit will go on sale in 2013 in the UK at Perrys Ford dealerships.
