The Peugeot RCZ is renowned for its unique sports coupe styling, with a ‘double-bubble’ roof being one of its trademark features. But as the last RCZ model was released back in 2010, it is in need of a refresh as Peugeot has introduced a whole new design philosophy over the last two years.
The new facelifted RCZ will offer a sleeker exterior design with a more aerodynamically inspired body shape, as well as Peugeot’s new and acclaimed front end design – which better matches its sports coupe appeal.
To match its double-bubble roof, there are three contrasting roof paint jobs: Aluminium, Sand and a new Matt Black. There are also personalisation packs available, including a ‘Black Pack’ which offers black door mirrors, brake callipers, black grille bars and black wheel arches.
The RCZ’s interior also gets a revamp and is now more customisable, with interior options including 7-inch satellite navigation, CD player with MP3 compatibility and a whole new custom audio system.
Engine availability for the new facelifted RCZ coupe includes a 1.6-litre petrol delivering 200bhp and a 2.0-litre HDi diesel delivering 163bhp. Although the 2.0-litre diesel offers plenty of power, it still only emits 139g/km and returns up to 53.2mpg.
As well as the standard RCZ getting a facelift, Peugeot is also planning to unveil a new performance version of the model, called the RCZ R concept, at this year’s Paris Motor Show. The performance RCZ will deliver 260bhp from a 1.6-litre petrol engine, making it the most powerful Peugeot yet.
Standard Peugeot RCZ prices start from £21,210.
Prices for the new facelifted model will be announced closer to its release date in the first quarter of 2013.
