The first look at the next generation Renault Clio is scheduled for September at the European show but an image shown to shareholders has leaked online.
The new 2013 Renault Clio will be the fourth version of the compact hatchback, which has sold well in the UK for over 20 years.
According to the first look at the new Clio, the model will come in five-door version only but the rear door handles will be built into the C-pillar at the rear of the car to ‘hide’ the doors.
Other aspects of the car have not been revealed but it is expected to sport Renault’s new front end design first demonstrated on the Renault DeZir supercar concept.
This includes the elongated, thin front grille incorporating the Renault badge, as seen on the new Renault Twingo and Renault’s electric range such as the Renault Fluence.
The biggest hint towards the new 2013 Clio’s style could come in the shape of the similar-size Renault Zoe electric supermini, a car set to go on sale in the UK later in the year.
The new Renault Clio will also come with new petrol and diesel engines aimed at lowering emissions and boosting fuel economy.
Renault is expected to aim for road tax-free levels of CO2 emissions (under 100g/km) with at least one of its petrol engines and a number of its diesel options.
New Renault Clio prices and specifications will be revealed closer to the launch date in 2013 but prices are expected to fall below £10,000 for entry-level models to compete with the likes of the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa.
The new 2013 Renault Clio will go on sale in UK Renault dealerships from 2013.
