The premium five-door hatchback, designed as an executive-level five-seater fitted with a huge amount of equipment and an all-new interior.
Using a similar design to the two other DS Line models, the Citroen DS3 and Citroen DS4, including the distinctive front grille, LED lights, chrome highlights and an attractive, coupe-like roofline.
Inside, the dashboard and roof are inspired by aeroplane cabins and the DS5 comes with a selection of premium equipment as standard including air conditioning, Bluetooth, cruise control and keyless entry.
Higher specification levels than the entry-level DSign model, including DStyle and DSport add leather interior, satellite navigation and a head-up display.
Available with a 160bhp diesel coupled with a choice of manual or automatic gearbox or a single 200bhp petrol at the top of the range, the Citroen DS5 is also the first Citroen to use a diesel-hybrid engine setup.
The diesel-hybrid engine is available on all three trim levels and matches an electric motor with a 2.0-litre diesel engine.
The result is 200bhp and four-wheel drive but because the electric engine helps out, running costs are incredibly low.
The new Citroen DS5 delivers 74.3mpg with the hybrid option and CO2 emissions are just 99g/km – enough to qualify for zero road tax and exemption from the London congestion charge.
It will also appeal to businesses, according to Citroen, with Benefit-in-Kind tax rates of ten per cent for the hybrid version.
The new Citroen DS5 is now available at Citroen UK dealerships and the first models will be seen on the road from today.
The third model in the upmarket DS Line, Citroen DS5 prices are also the highest. Entry-level models will start from £22,400, rising to £27,600 for the hybrid model.
