The used Ford Fiesta is a popular used car, particularly as a used car for newly qualified drivers, because of its reliability, modern styling and low running costs.
This has now been officially recognised in the annual awards for the best used cars from the diesel-oriented magazine, which judged used cars on everything from practicality to the cost of ownership.
Ian Robertson, editor of Diesel Car Magazine said: “The Fiesta suits all budgets and is the right car for the times. From youngsters as a first time buy, right the way up to families looking for a second car, it totally fits the bill.”
Explaining how it is important not to end up ‘with a duffer’ on the used car market, Diesel Car also revealed eight other winners of best used car categories at the awards.
Ford dominated the award with four out of the nine winners alongside the Ford Fiesta’s overall prize. The Ford Mondeo was named as the best used large car while the Ford Mondeo Estate won the best used estate car category.
Meanwhile, the sporty Ford S-Max won the best used MPV category at the awards. Other winners includes the Nissan Qashqai, Audi TT and Toyota Prius.
In the best used 4×4 category, the used Land Rover Freelander 2 was named the best used car at the awards for the 2006 and onwards model.
Used cars are increasingly popular in the UK according to auction company British Car Auctions (BCA) after used car values at its auctions increased by over £200 in February in response to strong demand.
