With a miles per gallon figure – the number used to show how far the car can travel on one gallon of fuel – of 88.3mpg, the new 2012 Kia Rio was named as the car which will give drivers the best value for money at the pumps.
In the latest Data Bank feature of the website honestjohn.co.uk the top ten cheapest and most fuel efficient cars have been revealed.
All of the cars that made it into the top ten all have sub 100g/km of CO2 emissions and use a diesel engine.
However, only diesel and petrol cars were counted in the survey, which was created in response to petrol prices rising to as high as 135 pence per litre in the UK in recent months.
The popular small car the Kia Rio came top of the list with its 88.3mpg figure. It achieved this impressive figure through the use of the Ecodynamics engine, a 1.1-litre diesel. The Kia Rio 1.1-litre Ecodynamics engine delivers 74hp and 169Nm of torque.
With these figures the Kia Rio reinforces its reputation as a reliable and practical car. Alongside its impressive figures it offers a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, it also offers a five-door option, something most city cars don’t.
The Kia Rio’s interior is also well equipped with practical features like Bluetooth compatibility and steering wheel mounted controls.
Other models to make it into the list include the likes of the Citroen C3 (83.1mpg), Seat Ibiza (80.7mpg) and the Vauxhall Corsa Ecoflex (80.7mpg).
Prices for the Kia Rio range start from £9,995 and are available from Perry’s Burnley dealership, Preston dealership and Rotherham dealership.
