The sportier version of the popular small car, named the Ford Fiesta Metal, is on sale now but Ford has limited UK sales of the model to just 1000 models.
Ford has been boasting about the car’s new 1.6litre Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine, 134PS at 6,700rpm and 160Nm of torque at 4,250rpm and its 0- 62mph capability of just 8.7 seconds.
Based on the popular three-door Ford Fiesta this new model, which comes in three colours (Panther Black, Midnight Sky and Frozen White), has chrome twin exhaust pipes, silver painted front grille, ebony black leather sport seats with silver stitching, unique floor mats and 17″ alloy wheels.
Performance is enhanced by sports tuning and a lowered ride height while Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Home Safe headlights, Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS), front, side and knee airbags and anti-lock brakes are included as standard on the Ford Fiesta Metal.
Ford’s marketing editor Anthony Ireson said that this new Ford will give the customer improved exterior styling as well as an enhanced performance engine and also said that its special features will prove to be ‘head turning’.
As well as the new performance based Fiesta, Ford are also in the process of working on track prototypes for its new sporty Fiesta ST which was revealed as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The new performance based Ford Fiesta Metal is now on sale from £15,695 with only 1000 limited edition models.
