Land Rover delivered a five-door Evoque to Zara Phillips during the Burghley Horse Trials after the equestrian put her name down for a new model earlier in the year.
Phillips said: “I am really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of my new Evoque. It looks absolutely fantastic and I am delighted to be the first person in the UK to take delivery of one.”
Phillips will be the first of 6,000 UK owners ready to take delivery of the new ‘baby’ Range Rover and Perrys Rocar Moores and Copley Land Rover dealership is planning an open weekend to mark the launch of the new car.
A VIP event will take place on Thursday (8 September) before an open weekend for customers gives people interested in the Evoque a chance to take a look at three- and five-door versions of the attractive SUV.
The Range Rover Evoque is one of the most anticipated new car launches of 2011 because of the attractive styling of the new Range Rover, which boasts a coupe-like roofline and an interior influenced by guest designer Victoria Beckham.
Fitted with all the luxury and equipment expected of a Range Rover, the Evoque starts from just £28,000, making it the least expensive Range Rover ever made.
It’s lightweight design and efficient engines means it is also the greenest and it even comes with a two-wheel drive option – a first for the Range Rover brand.
In 4×4 version however, the Evoque boasts Land Rovers much-celebrated All Terrain system, which helps the SUV adapt to various weather and terrain conditions to improve grip.
The Range Rover Evoque goes on sale this month in the UK and Land Rover has already reported huge sales demand for the new model, in particular with younger, city-based buyers – a market not traditionally associated with Land Rover.
