Only 750 versions of the French supermini will be built, and Citroen has not revealed if right hand drive models will be sold in UK showrooms.
The Citroen DS3 Grey Matter comes with a matte grey body colour set off with a choice of white or black roof and optional customisable graphics in keeping with the DS3 tradition.
The DS3 Grey Matter will aso boast 17" diamond alloy wheels and inside leather is used for the interior and automatic climate control, a satellite navigation system and HiFi system are all included in the special edition.
Citroen will offer the VTi 120 and 150 THP petrol engines with the new special edition, but there is no sign of the Airdream+ engine which would offer free VED and exemption from the London congestion charge due to its low CO2 emissions.
Prices have only been announced in Euros, but the quoted prices would translate to around £21,000 if the car goes on sale in the UK.
The Citroen DS3 Grey Matter is the latest in a string of special edition models released by the French brand since the launch of the more upmarket supermini.
These include fashionable choices such as a special edition Yves Saint Laurent and Orla Kiely models in recent times as the marque aims to create a more premium feel for its DS Line of cars.
The Citroen DS3 is the first in the DS Line and will be followed by the Citroen DS4 hatchback. The DS4 will be followed by the larger Citroen DS5 in 2012.
The range also includes a 300bhp Citroen DS3 Racing hot hatch and a specially designed Citroen DS3 WRC which is currently leading the World Rally Championships while driven by Sebastian Loeb.
