The dry twin clutch automatic transmission will ‘guarantee driving comfort’ and give the Alfa a ‘sporting’ feel, says the manufacturer, which will showcase the transmission with the 170hp 1.4 MultiAir turbo petrol model.
The new gearbox features Alfa’s Stop&Start technology to save fuel and improves emissions in the MultiAir model to 121g/km.
Once released, it will also be made available with the 170hp 2.0-litre JTDM diesel engine at a later date.
Alfa will also add a 140hp turbodiesel to the Giulietta’s engine line-up. The new powerplant will deliver CO2 emissions of just 119g/km and fuel consumption of 62.8mpg.
A number of other Alfa Romeo Giulietta models will be on show in Paris, highlighting some of the other engine ranges and technology such as the Blue&Me driving information system and TomTom satellite navigation.
The Alfa Romeo MiTo supermini will also appear at the Paris Motor Show and will also be offered with TCT transmission – the first car to offer the MultiAir technology with the TCT transmission and Start&Stop technology.
Finally, the new 2011 Alfa Romeo 159 will be on show in Paris in both saloon and estate (Sportwagon) body styles.
The 159 has received a facelift to the interior and equipment levels have been increased to include a number of optional packs.
These include the TI Pack comprising sporty 19" alloy wheels, red brake callipers and side skirts. Inside, the pack offers a number of sporty touches including sports seats, aluminium pedal unit and sports steering wheel.
All of the new Alfa Romeo models will be on show from September 30 at the Paris Motor Show.
