Despite being less than a year old, the Jaguar XJ luxury car is one of the most decorated cars available today, with over 20 international awards to its name.
On presenting the award, Automobile magazine said: “The toughest part about this class is that it’s very hard for any one car to stand out in the crowd, and yet the XJ manages to do just that, in both its design and its dynamics. Both for the aesthete and the enthusiast, the all-new Jaguar XJ is an All-Star."
The award continues a hot streak for the British car maker which has coincided with the revitalisation of the brand through the introduction of the XK coupe, XF saloon and the XJ.
Jaguar has now won the award for the previous three years, with the XF taking the title in 2009 and 2010.
This year, the Jaguar XJ beat competition from 271 new cars in the US to take the title, which was presented to a Jaguar team including managing director Mike O’Driscoll.
Available from £55,000 the new Jaguar XJ comes in Luxury, Premium Luxury, Portfolio or performance Supersport specifications.
Engine options include a 3.0-litre diesel or 5.0-litre petrol, while the Supersport version takes advantage of a supercharged 505bhp version of the 5.0-litre V8.
All models, including the entry-level Luxury version, come with alloy wheels, Xenon headlights, panoramic roof, colour touch screen, dual-zone climate control, and a choice of metallic colours for the exterior and leather upholstery inside.
The Jaguar XJ has won awards in the UK, US and even the Middle East in the past 12 months, showcasing the global demand for the British-built luxury car.
