Renault unveils new Twingo Gordini

The Renault Twingo Gordini follows the Gordini Clio in the Renault range and offers a halfway point between the standard Twingo city car range and the ultra-sporty RenaultSport Twingo.

Named the Twingo Gordini 100, the new model will cost just £11,395 and will boast the famous twin stripes synonymous with the Gordini name.

The three-door city car will be powered by a 1.2-litre TCe petrol engine delivering 100hp at 5,500rpm. This translates into a top speed of 117mph and is enhanced by sporty upgrades including a GT chassis, stiffer shock absorbers and recalibrated sports steering.

However, it also offers just 132g/km of CO2 emissions and fuel economy of 49.5mpg – qualifying for Renault’s eco2 signature in the process.

Available in blue, black or white with Gordini badging evident throughout, the Twingo Gordini will also include sporty 15" Turini alloy wheels with black inserts.

Equipment includes a radio CDMP3 player, air conditioning, polished black inserts, cruise control and electric windows.

Inside, leather upholstery with the Gordini badge are complemented by blue detailing, Panoramic sunroof and blue highlights throughout the cabin.

RenaultSport versions outsold all other Twingo models in the months after its release, and the same is expected of the Twingo Gordini, which will trade on the ever-popular name made famous by a procession of Renault racing cars.

The blue metallic body colour is expected to be the most popular. The traditional Gordini colours will make up 90 per cent of sales, says Renault.

Orders for the Renault Twingo Gordini will start from 25 November and the first deliveries will take place in mid-January 2011.

The £11,395 price tag includes the increased VAT rate of 20 per cent in the UK, Renault has confirmed.
