Fiat Group hires new fleet director

Simon Wheeler will take on the role to boost fleet sales for Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Fiat’s van range, Fiat Professional.

"I am really looking forward to this new role within a company I have not only enjoyed working for but grown to respect," says Simon. "Fiat Group is now a serious force within the UK motor industry and our recent success in the retail channel now deserves to be repeated in the major fleet sectors."

Quoting the success of the new Fiat Punto Evo and Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Wheeler also pointed out the new Fiat 500 TwinAir, two-cylinder model as the reason why the Fiat Group is enjoying a growing reputation in the fleet market.

He added: "We have managed to improve dramatically the desirability and resulting residual values of our products over recent months by maintaining our resolve to only transact commercially sound business with our growing customer base. "

Wheeler has worked in the motor industry since the early 1970s and previously worked for UK manufacturer Rover.

He will report to managing director Andrew Humberstone as well as continuing his role remarketing and disposal of vehicles to Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Fiat Professional dealer networks such as Perrys Motors.

Perrys Amersham will work with Wheeler to supply Fiat and Alfa Romeo cars and vans, while Perrys dealers at Aylesbury and Portsmouth currently sell Fiat models.
