The Generation trim level is available on the five-door hatchback version of the Megane and for a limited time will be priced from £10,995.
Petrol and diesel options will be offered in the form of a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre dCi diesel and both will include five-speed manual gearboxes.
The eco2-badged diesel model will save drivers further expense because CO2 emissions of 115g/km qualify the five-door hatch for zero first year road tax. The diesel model also features 64.2mpg compared to 42.2mpg from the petrol model.
The petrol model boasts better performance figures, however. The 100hp translates to a 0-62mph time of 11.7 seconds and a top speed of 115mph compared to 13 seconds and 112mph from the 90hp diesel model.
The discount of over £3,000 less than the previous Expression model is available during the last of the summer months as part of the French manufacturer’s ‘Vive Le Summer’ promotion.
Once the promotion is over, prices will be raised to £13,995 and £15,755 for the petrol and diesel models respectively, £860 cheaper than the Extreme equivalents.
However, Renault says the specification will not suffer with the price drop. Standard equipment on the Generation Megane includes air conditioning, cruise control, electric door mirrors, ESC, speed limiter, 15" alloy wheels and a sound system with fingertip remote controls.
Optional extras with the Generation specification include 16" alloy wheels and metallic paint.
The Renault Megane is available in six different body styles after the Coupe-Cabriolet version was released in 2010. It joins the three- and five-door hatchback, coupe, estate and RenaultSport versions in the complete Megane range.
