It’s no surprise the 2011 Kia Sorento has been awarded a top safety rating in the US to match its European five-star rating.
Previously, it had received impressive ratings in adult, child occupancy, pedestrian safety and safety assist in the industry standard EuroNCAP tests in 2009.
Having been one of the first to receive the new five-star safety rating in the new tests, the new Sedona is expected to be followed by the new Sportage later in the year.
Commenting on the EuroNCAP test result, Michael Cole of Kia Motors UK, said: "Engineers at Kia’s world-class Namyang R&D facility in Korea developed the new Sorento SUV to provide the highest levels of occupant protection in real-world accident scenarios.”
All Kia Sorento models sold in Europe and the US boast safety technology such as Electronic Stability Control and an Emergency Brake System.
So despite some recent recalls, it seems Kia is fast becoming a manufacturer associated with safety in every area.
