From the 2-4 July, Citroen will unveil the limited edition DS3 Racing – a sporty model based on the premium DS3 supermini and designed by the multi-championship winning Citroen Racing team.
Only 1000 Citroen DS3 Racing models will be built, each with a turbo-charged 200hp 1.6-litre THP engine capable of reaching 140mph and delivering a 0-62mph sprint time of 6.9 seconds.
This makes the DS3 Racing the fastest Citroen hatchback ever and the hot-hatch features front and rear dampers and an adapted suspension to cope with the extra power.
Boasting several features taken from World Rally Championship cars, the DS3 Racing comes with 18" alloy wheels, brake callipers, new front grille surround and carbon finish around the front bumper.
While the DS3 is highly customisable, the DS3 Racing comes only with an eye-catching orange roof and trim around the grille, and contrasting grey body colour.
The model made its worldwide debut at the Geneva Motor Show but has not been seen in the UK until now.
The hugely popular Citroen DS3 – voted one of the coolest 15 items in the world by Stuff magazine – is currently on sale in the UK. The first of Citroen’s more premium DS Line, the DS3 will be joined by a DS4 and DS5 in the next 12 months.
A standard DS3 will also be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, as will a C4 World Rally Championship car and the GTbyCitroen supercar concept.
Finally, the Survolt concept will make its UK debut at the event. The fashionable, motor racing-based all-electric model represents Citroen’s vision for a high-performance electric vehicle in future.
The star of the show, however, will be the limited edition DS3 Racing, and Citroen expects a lot of interest before its launch later in 2010.
