The Nissan Navara has been named Best Pick-Up at the Parkers New Car Awards 2018, adding to its list of industry accolades. Our motoring journalist, Tim Barnes-Clay, reports.
Judges from the car website put every pick-up through its paces and took the reviews of real-world owners into account before reaching their decision. And, after assessing the field, the judges’ verdict was that the Navara stood head and shoulders above the competition.
Alex Smith, Managing Director at Nissan Motor (GB), said: “We are delighted to accept this award as further evidence of the Navara’s class-leading appeal. Combining practicality with outstanding performance, comfort and technology, it’s great to see Navara setting the benchmark that all other pick-ups are measured by.”
Presenting the award, Editor of Parkers Keith Adams said: “Nissan has created the closest thing the pick-up segment has to the perfect all-rounder with the latest Navara. The engines are powerful yet efficient, while the chassis is strong but sharp to drive. Add in an interior that would be at home in a modern family off-roader, and you’ve got a highly capable workhorse that’s also impressively refined.”
Available as a King Cab or a Double Cab, the all-new Nissan Navara has everything the driver needs for a pick-up for both work and play. It has a powerful and efficient engine, a strong chassis and an interior that offers the comfort and innovative technology seen on Nissan’s Crossover range.
Priced from £24,480, and including a 5-Year/100,000-mile Manufacturer Warranty as standard, the robust Navara can handle payloads of more than one tonne and has a best-in-class towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes. Its efficient diesel engine has the best-in-class fuel economy of up to 46.3mpg and CO2 emissions from as little as 159g/km (for the 160PS single-turbo engine).
