Perrys’ very own branch manager, Jason Kenny, has been swamped with more than 50 messages a day praising him for his Rio victory!
Social media users have been getting him mixed up with the Olympic gold-medal winning cycling ace, who, like Perrys’ Jason, is from Farnworth in Greater Manchester. But Jason, who’s also into cycling, as well as cars, says it’s an ‘absolute pleasure’ to get the Olympian’s tweets.
That’s despite his hastily changed Twitter biography that explains to the ‘Twittersphere’ that he isn’t an Olympian. He also points users in the right direction towards the slightly more famous Jason Kenny.
Jason said: “It’s happened for years and first started when he was at the Beijing games, then obviously London and now Rio. I usually just re-tweet them or sometimes I reply and say thank you but I am not in Rio. I find it funny.”
To attempt to show he’s different from gold medal hero, Jason Kenny, Mr Kenny has written on his Twitter biography: ‘Bolton lad but not an Olympian, that’s @jasonkenny107 who’s amazing + not Canadian that’s @jkenney who’s…Canadian. Often confused for both you ain’t the first.’

Mr Kenny, who has actually ridden in Manchester velodrome, is general manager for Perrys Bolton Peugeot in Bridgeman Street – near to the Jason Kenny Centre in Bolton One.
He added: “We had an open day at Perrys Bolton Peugeot and we put on the invites that Jason Kenny would be on site to meet people. People were turning up asking could they meet Jason Kenny, so they were a bit disappointed when I stepped out; they must have thought that I had really let myself go since the Olympics.”
Jason, who, as well as providing his usual excellent customer service to Perrys’ customers, has been watching the games avidly. He said of his namesake: “He’s doing fantastically. If he doesn’t become Sir Jason Kenny, then there’s something wrong!”
