Nissan Micra Review

The Nissan Micra has been around for a while, but it’s always nice to catch up with old friends. We took it out for a quick spin and this is what we found.

The distinctive honeycomb v-shaped grille leaves no doubt that this is a Nissan. It also creates a dynamic visual effect, making the car look bigger and more powerful than it actually is.

You’ll impress everyone you pass in the Nissan Micra, and you’ll leave them wanting more once they see the eye-catching rear LEDs fade off into the distance.

If you need a city-car, but long for something a bit more exciting, the Nissan Micra is the car for you. Opt for the sporty lightweight 16” alloys, or go for the Acenta model and get a body coloured rear spoiler that adds a bit of flair to your standard humdrum hatchback.

The Nissan Micra can be extensively personalised, so go crazy with your colours and get a car that is truly unique to you.

The interior of the Nissan Micra oozes luxury. The sued-effect seats with contrast double stitching and matching door panels (available on the Tekna model) make a great statement, while the silver detailing on the Acenta model compliments the deep black trim of the rest of the cabin. The chrome door handles are a nice touch too.

The spacious cabin of the Nissan Micra is emphasised by the panoramic glass roof – making the car airy and inviting for all those inside it.

The gloss piano-black finish on the centre console frames the NissanConnect system’s 5.8” touchscreen, which acts as a hub for your navigation system, apps, music, radio and phone. Your advanced navigation system will even find you alternative routes to help you save fuel and avoid traffic.

You can control your music through the built-in USB port, or use Bluetooth to get rid of all those niggly cables and control your smartphone without ever needing to reach for it. Choose to use the touchscreen or the handy controls on the steering wheel, and you’ll never get distracted from the road again!

Most of these infotainment features come as standard on the new Micra. So, whichever model you go for, you know you’re going to be thoroughly entertained.

The Nissan Micra has a host of other gadgets to keep you comfortable, including:

• Automatic air conditioning
• Nissan intelligent key
• Multi-functional driver display, featuring data on your fuel economy and driving range, as well as the outside temperature and door/boot closure status
• Extensive storage options, including: two-tiered glove box, cup holders, 60:40 split folding rear seats (accommodating 1,000 l of boot space)

On the road

The Nissan Micra is a great city car. The nimble handling and tight turning circle make it perfect for driving through urban areas. It even comes with a parking slot measurement system and rear parking sensors to tell you if you’ll fit in a space, how difficult it will be to park and how close you are to the cars around you.

The Nissan Micra also comes with a number of safety features, including:

• Driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags (these can be deactivated if you need a baby seat)
• Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), which monitors steering and braking to help you maintain a steady course
• Improved braking via ABS
• Tyre pressure monitoring
• Engine immobiliser

Our verdict

The Nissan Micra is great value – especially considering how much tech you get as standard! It starts from just £7,995 and will keep saving you money (as well as saving the environment) thanks to the car’s economical fuel consumption.

The Nissan Micra is a great little motor, and comes with enough safety features and gadgetry to make the most boring of drives both entertaining and safe. It’s ideal for the city but also has that little bit of zing to get it moving on the motorway.
