Ford KA review

Ford KA.

The original Ford KA took to our roads a decade ago, and revolutionised the idea of what a compact car should be. Let’s take a look at how the new model fares.

Exterior

This new version of the Ford KA is sporty and athletic. Any passer-by will be impressed by the kinetic design that gives the car a feeling of flow and movement, even when it’s stationary.

The swept up headlights give the car a modern edge, setting this model apart from the original Ford KA of ’96.

The Ford KA’s body is elongated by the body colour bumpers, making this compact car seem bigger than it actually is.

Interior

The new Ford KA is available in various different models, that will adhere to your taste and your budget.

Ford offers new owners several trim levels to help make the Ford KA your own. You can even opt for the leather handbrakes and seats to give your compact car a little taste of luxury.

The attractive pearl white central console is available across the range.

The individual space in the new Ford KA has been increased, so you won’t have to squeeze yourself into the cabin when you want to go for a quick spin. This makes the Ford KA much more comfortable both for you and your passengers.

The Ford KA also includes ISOFIX points so that you can keep your little ones safe and secure while you’re on the road.

Whilst the Ford KA doesn’t have the flashy built-in tablet or navigation system like others in its class, MP3, radio and Bluetooth connectivity is standard in all models, and the sound-system will definitely keep you entertained whilst you’re nipping around the city.

On the Road

The original Ford KA was known for on-road poise and agility, and we’re happy to say that the new version builds on this to create a car that drives even better than its predecessor.

The power comes from the 1.2-litre Duratec petrol engine (68bhp), but if you don’t think that’s enough you can upgrade to the 1.3-litre engine for a little more kick.

The Ford KA handles really well thanks to the latest electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) technology.

A number of safety systems keep you safe in the Ford KA, including Anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and an Intelligent Protection System that manages the airbags internally. The rear parking sensors are also a big plus in our book!

The Ford KA doesn’t just keep you safe, it also keeps the planet and the ice caps safe too! It’s extremely fuel efficient and eco-friendly – using 57.7mpg and with a low CO2 emission rate.

Our verdict

The new Ford KA is sleek, stylish and a great drive. With a starting price of £8,995 you can’t go far wrong with this funky little car.

It’s a better drive than some in its class, and much more practical thanks to the large boot space and 50:50 split rear seats (on some models).

It’s only available in a 3 door option so it might not be a little cosy for the whole family, but for zipping around the city it’s perfect.
