For the first time in its history the Renault UK Clio Cup is to be shown on television in North America thanks to a ground-breaking agreement with leading sports channel MavTV to broadcast the championship’s races.
A significant audience of around 30 million households in the USA and Canada will be able to see the UK Clio Cup action as MavTV shows coverage of both the 2015 and 2016 seasons. This will be in addition to the air time that the UK Clio Cup receives in Britain which includes live coverage on the ITV4 channel and then follow-up highlights on ITV Sport’s Motorsport UK show (broadcast on both ITV1 and ITV4).
Renaultsport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to confirm the broadcast of our championship into multi-million households across North America. This is terrific news for all our drivers, teams, sponsors and partners.”
And added Jeremy Townsend, Communications Director, Renault UK: “America loves close sporting contests and, given how the level of competition on the UK Clio Cup grid has increased so dramatically in 2015, they are certainly going to get that when our racing reaches its screens.
“On top of ITV Sport’s live coverage and highlights of the UK Clio Cup – which, free-to-air, reaches close to all 26.4 million households in Britain – this additional coverage with MavTV means yet more fantastic brand exposure for our stakeholders.”
