The all-electric Kia Soul EV has been awarded with the prize for Best Small Family Car by AutoVolt magazine, the UK’s premier electric vehicle publication.
Having snatched the award from popular rivals like the Nissan LEAF, the Soul EV was praised by AutoVolt’s editorial team for its flexibility, practicality and class-beating range.
Jonathan Musk, AutoVolt’s founder and editor, said: “Kia’s Soul EV is a fantastic car that comes highly recommended. If you’re considering an electric car but are anxious about the myths, Kia have the best answer for you at the moment.
Flexible, practical and with class-beating range
“The Soul EV is a near no compromise car, which is a great entry into the world of electric motoring. The seven year warranty offers fantastic peace of mind and the electric range is class leading; it actually does the 132 miles it says it will.”
Having gone on sale late last year, the Soul EV is Kia’s first battery-powered electric vehicle to be sold globally and has wasted no time picking up a range of awards for its eco-friendly credentials.
Featuring the same funky styling and practical interior dimensions of the regular Kia Soul, the Soul EV is powered by a 108bhp electric motor with an under-floor lithium ion battery pack.
As well as that, the electric Soul features daytime running lights and exclusive 16-inch alloy wheels which have been specifically designed to maximise aerodynamic performance and increase efficiency.
Steve Kitson, Kia UK’s director of corporate communications, said: “Our first dedicated electric car has to be both efficient and easy to use, which is why we utilised our quirky Soul city car to bring this technology to the market-place.
Popular with urban drivers
“Soul has long been popular with urban drivers and as the Soul EV builds up a strong customer base we believe more and more city-focused motorists will see the sense behind going electric.
“Clearly we are delighted that AutoVolt have given the Soul EV this award and recognise just how capable it is of delivering great every-day and emission-free motoring.”
The Kia Soul EV is available to buy from Perrys dealerships now, with prices starting from just £24,995 when taking the government’s £5,000 plug-in car grant into account.
