Ford has officially announced performance figures for the all-new Mustang ahead of its first-ever release in the UK.
Able to sprint to 62mph from a complete standstill in as little as 4.8 seconds, the new Mustang is officially the fastest-accelerating production Ford coupe model ever released in Europe.
Hermann Salenbauch, Mustang vehicle line director, said: “The new Ford Mustang will be wickedly fast off the line and throw you back in your seat with a thrilling engine soundtrack.
“But Mustang isn’t just fast in a straight line. The ride and handling will be a revelation for European drivers.”
In the UK the new Mustang will be available with a choice of two powerful engines, a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine which generates 313bhp and a 5.0-litre V8 with 415bhp on tap.
Equipped with six-speed manual transmissions, the EcoBoost can take the Mustang from 0-62mph in an incredible 5.8 seconds, while the V8 sheds a whole second off, reaching 62mph in only 4.8 seconds.
Despite such heavyweight performance, the Mustang is moderately fuel efficient. The V8 version returns 20.9mpg with 299g/km of CO2, while the EcoBoost returns 35.3mpg with 179g/km of CO2.
Designed to be equally as fun on the road or track, the new Ford Mustang features selectable drive modes to alter the throttle response for a more relaxed or more intense drive as buyers desire.
Toggle switches on the centre console adjust stability control, gear-shift patterns and steering, and drivers can choose between Normal, Sport+, Track or Snow/Wet settings.
It also comes fitted with Track Apps to monitor performance, while the V8-equipped models feature a special Launch Control feature which holds engine revs at the sweetest spot for optimum acceleration.
