Ford reveals the all-new Galaxy

Ford has officially unveiled the all-new version of the seven-seater Galaxy MPV ahead of its arrival in the UK this summer.

With a range of exterior and interior updates to bring it closer in line with the rest of Ford’s contemporary line-up, the new Galaxy also comes packed with a range of modern kit and features.

Taking styling cues from its smaller brother, the S-MAX, the new Galaxy comes with a sleeker appearance than the last model, plus an updated front grille and slim-line headlamps.

New look and fresh range of kit

At the rear, Ford has incorporated the window glass with the rear lights to deliver the impression of a larger glass area, while thin window pillars maximise visual impact as well as visibility.

On the inside, the new Galaxy gets a sculpted centre console and wrap-around dashboard, while the airy interior features a large glass area and the option of a full-length retractable panoramic roof.

A standard traditional instrument cluster can be exchanged for an optional 10-inch digital screen with animated speedometer and rev counter, while drivers can customise the display and graphics.

Continuing the Galaxy’s reputation for excellent family practicality, the new model now makes it easier than ever to maximise space for passengers and luggage with flat-folding seats.

A handy control panel in the rear can automatically fold all the second- and third-row seats instantly, while the panel can also be used to raise the third row seats at the flick of a switch.

Large and bulky items are a breeze to load courtesy of a float loading floor, while individually sliding and reclining seats means that it’s easy to tailor the interior for school run trips or airport runs on the fly.

As well as the boot, the new Galaxy also features an additional 20-litre storage space below the boot floor, while a range of handy storage bins and cubby holes are littered throughout the cabin.

Just some of the kit available includes a range of safety functions like blind spot information and Ford’s neat perpendicular parking system for hands-free parking in tight spaces.

Euro 6-compliant engine range

It also comes with Ford’s latest SYNC 2 infotainment system, plus features like the same Intelligent Speed Limiter that features on the S-MAX and which will reportedly make speeding tickets history.

Engine options include a choice of 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol EcoBoost engines, plus a 2.0-litre turbo diesel available in three different power outputs.

Each engine in the range is Euro 6 compliant, with a range of economical technologies like auto start-stop which automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is at rest to save fuel.

Prices for the all-new Ford Galaxy have yet to be announced, but it’s due to go on sale in the UK later in the summer this year.
