Mazda has announced that its all-new MX-5 roadster will make a starring appearance at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in June.
Visitors to the festival will be able to get up close and personal with the new next-generation version of the legendary two-seater, alongside the new Mazda2 supermini and CX-3 compact SUV models.
Both the MX-5 and the CX-3 will be put through their paces on the famous Goodwood hill during the show, giving audiences the opportunity to experience Mazda’s new models in action.
‘Flat-out and Fearless’
Lord March, the festival’s founder, said: “The theme for this year’s Festival of Speed is ‘Flat-out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge’ and Mazda’s continual push to reject engineering conventions and strive for something unique perfectly aligns with this philosophy.
“We are delighted to be celebrating Mazda’s motor sport achievements and pioneering road-car technologies with the Central Feature, and to help it showcase its brand-new cars to an international community of car enthusiasts and the world’s automotive media – an audience that only Goodwood can attract.”
Not just that, but the festival will also give potential buyers the chance to get a good look at the new MX-5 and CX-3 models before they officially arrive in UK dealerships during the summer.
Pre-orders for the new MX-5 are now officially open, and although full pricing has yet to be released, customers can now put down a deposit to claim one of the first models when deliveries begin.
Officially unveiled by Mazda last September, the new fourth-generation MX-5 is the lightest, lowest and most aggressive version of the iconic two-seat sports car produced yet.
According to the manufacturer, it has been specifically designed to capitalise on the MX-5’s legendary reputation for driving pleasure, fun and sparky performance.
New MX-5 available for pre-order
Jeremy Thomson, Mazda UK’s managing director, said: “The MX-5 is Mazda’s brand icon and it embodies all that is great about our products.
“Its fun to drive character has strengthened the bond between Mazda and its customers for 25 years. So there’s no better place to showcase the all-new Mazda MX-5 than in front of the enthusiastic crowd at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.”
Other highlights at the festival this year will include live music and a unique MX-5 themed experience area, along with appearances from Mazda’s famous Le Mans-winning 787B racer.
This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place from 26th-28th June, while the all-new Mazda MX-5 is due for release in the UK later in the summer.
