Qashqai named safest small family car money can buy

The Nissan Qashqai has officially been named the safest small family car that you can buy, according to independent safety testing organisation Euro NCAP.

According to the organisation, Nissan’s hugely-popular crossover scored more points for its safety features than any other car in its class throughout all of last year, with a host of innovative kit.

This is just the latest feather in the Qashqai’s cap, after the model scored a wide range of accolades throughout 2014 from Euro NCAP and others, while Nissan’s other models also received high praise.

Not just the Qashqai…

Euro NCAP also awarded the full five-star rating for the manufacturer’s X-Trail SUV and the new Pulsar hatchback, thanks to Nissan’s impressive Safety Shield equipment package.

However, the Qashqai stands head and shoulders above the rest, having proven extremely popular with critics and buyers alike, so much so that more than two million have been made to date.

According to Euro NCAP, the Qashqai features unparalleled protection for both its occupants and for pedestrians, with maximum points awarded for protection of all body regions.

Nissan states that it was also designed to offer the best possible levels of child protection, with the model also shining in child occupant tests using test dummies made to imitate an 18-month old child.

Alongside this, Nissan’s extensive Safety Shield suite of highly advanced active and passive safety features also proved to be extremely popular with the organisation.

Offering drivers and occupants high levels of protection, just some of the features include forward emergency braking to avoid impending collisions and automatically dipping full-beam lights.

Built-in 360 degree cameras

The Qashqai also comes with a lane departure warning system, plus active moving object detection and a blind spot warning system courtesy of its Around View Monitor technology.

Thanks to this unique technology, which uses cameras and a touchscreen display to offer drivers a 360-degree view around the car, the Qashqai was also named the world’s most parkable car.

Designed to make urban driving easier, the Qashqai also features Park Assist, which automatically steers the car into a parking space while the driver simply controls forward and reverse motion.

Further adding to its enviable list of kit designed to make journey and parking infinitely easier for owners, the Qashqai is also available with front and rear parking sensors to warn of obstacles.

Designed, engineered and built in Nissan’s Sunderland plant, the Qashqai is available to buy from Perrys dealerships now, priced from £18,265 for the entry-level Visia trim.
