The new Ford Transit Courier has officially been named Van of the Year 2015 at this year’s What Van? Awards.
Alongside that, Ford took home a range of other prestigious awards after the Transit Courier was also named Small Van of the Year. The Transit Connect also topped the light van category, while the Ford Ranger went home with Pick-up of the Year.
Finally, Ford’s Fiesta Van was also highly commended in its category, while the Transit Custom also performed well in the medium van category.
What Van? Editor, Paul Barker, said: “Ford’s revolution of its light commercial line-up has seen it offer the most comprehensive range of high-quality vehicles in the marketplace, in terms of visual appeal, driver appeal, innovation, technology and efficiency.”
“This massive investment has culminated with our Van of the Year Transit Courier offering a massive step forward in the small van segment,” Paul added.
The awards represent the culmination of a two-year overhaul of the entire Transit range, which included the addition of the new Transit Courier model, which launched earlier this year.
Ford’s first-ever small Transit variant delivers class-leading fuel efficiency across the diesel and petrol engine ranges, with up to 76.3mpg with just 97g/km of CO2 emissions.
As well as that, the class-leading Ford Transit Courier offers 10 per cent more load volume than its direct rivals, with 2,300 litres behind the bulkhead and greater access via sliding side doors.
Terry Rayner, director of Ford’s Transit centres said: “I am delighted to receive the What Van? Van of the Year award for the Transit Courier, a Ford first in the small van segment.
“2015 will be the first full year that the entire four-van Transit range will be available and will coincide with the launch of Ford’s specialist commercial vehicle dealerships and service centres.”
He added: “Transit Centres will be rolled out in over 100 locations across the UK, plus a further 90 service only points, cementing Ford’s position as the largest commercial vehicle dealer network nationally.”
Testimony to the range’s popularity, it continues to outsell its competitors. Both the Transit and Transit Custom lead their segments, with a 26.6 per cent and 33 per cent market share respectively.
The Ford Transit Courier is available to buy now, priced from just £15,546.
