The Peugeot 308 is due to make its first big-screen appearance, featuring in Luc Besson’s latest film, LUCY.
Starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman, LUCY tells the story of a student whose mental capabilities are enhanced infinitely as the result of a botched drug-smuggling ordeal.
As a major part of the movie, the titular Lucy will jump behind the wheel of a new Peugeot 308 for an adrenaline charged high-speed chase through the streets of Paris.
Demonstrating the cars great features
The 2014 European Car of the Year winning model will show off all of its agility and performance by racing down the capital’s famous rue de Rivoli.
Since its release last year, the 308 has already generated over 138,000 orders, becoming one of the best-selling models for the French carmaker.
As well as that, the 308 is one of Peugeot’s recent efforts to move itself up-market, appealing to premium buyers with a respective increase in quality and features.
The addition of upgraded trims, including the 308 SW estate version, which was introduced in March, has helped to further drive Peugeot onwards and upwards.
Available in four trim levels, the 308 SW includes a large glass roof, alloy wheels, cruise control and parking assistance as standard.
Moving up the trim range, the Active version adds 16-inch alloys, plus air conditioning, rear parking sensors, plus SatNav and a leather steering wheels.
The higher Allure trim upgrades the alloy wheels to 17 inches, and includes front parking sensors plus a reversing camera.
Finally, the range-topping Feline model includes 18-inch alloy wheels, sports seats and passenger lumbar support in the seats.
From launch, the 308 SW was available with a choice of four petrol and five HDi diesel engines, which offer class-leading fuel economy and low CO2 emissions.
Turbocharged petrol engine available
The 308 SW was also the first Peugeot model to benefit from the new three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, the 1.2-litre PureTech e-THP that comes with a choice of 110bhp or 130bhp outputs.
BlueHDi models are also available, which allows for emissions of just 82g/km in the hatchback version of the 308 and 85g/km in the SW estate.
LUCY, starring the hatchback 308, is due to be released in UK cinemas this Friday. The Peugeot 308, meanwhile, has a starting price of £14,495 for the standard hatchback and £16,845 for the SW estate.
