Nissan has signed Champions League stars Andrés Iniesta and Thiago Silva as the carmaker’s first global ambassadors for its UEFA Champion’s League partnership.
Nissan’s new Engineers of Excitement
The two will become Nissan’s new Engineers of Excitement, helping the manufacturer in its effortto introduce new innovations to enhance football fan’s experience.
Both players will have a pivotal role throughout the coming season, starting with a role in Nissan’s new Champions League advertising campaign.
Vice president of marketing for Nissan Europe, Bastien Schupp, said: “Nissan is absolutely delighted to welcome Andrés and Thiago to the Nissan family as our UEFA Champions League ambassadors and we are really excited that they will be heavily involved in our brand new global advertising campaign.
“As two of the game’s leading players who have won multiple titles between them, Andrés and Thiago will bring their passion and enthusiasm to Nissan and together we will innovate to excite the fans.”
The two athletes will feature in a series of television adverts to demonstrate how innovation is key to creating excitement for football fans and drivers alike, both on and off the field.
In addition, the two will also make a number of personal appearances and turn up at match day events, along with much more.
Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta said, “I’m thrilled to work with Nissan on their partnership with the UEFA Champions League. Having won the tournament three times in my career, the competition is very special to me and takes a tremendous amount of hard work and innovation to win.”
Champions League partnership
The Champions League partnership is the latest example of Nissan’s commitment to growth in global sports, which also includes the sponsorship of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Alongside that, Nissan has a long history of innovation, including the development of the all-electric Nissan Leaf model.
Having broken sales records earlier in the year, the Leaf has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the most popular all-electric vehicles on the road.
With its onboard electric powertrain, the Nissan LEAF has an official maximum projected travel range of up to 124 miles and standard kit includes air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and SatNav.
With a CO2 emissions output of 0g/km, the LEAF boasts impressively low running costs for customers and is exempt from both the London Congestion Charge and road tax.
Prices for the Nissan LEAF currently start at £15,990 when choosing the battery leasing deal that Nissan offer, while the price with the battery purchased outright starts at £20,990.
