Chevrolet invites 11 lucky kids to Old Trafford

Chevrolet has announced that’s invited 11 children from around the world to serve as mascots for Manchester United’s Premier League season opener on Saturday.

The children, aged between 10 and 13 are from countries all across the world, including Brazil, China, South Africa, South Korea and the United States, among others.

They’re due to visit as part of Chevrolet’s ‘What Do You Play For?’ campaign that aims to bring football fans closer to the sport.

Richard Arnold, managing director for the Manchester United Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome such a diverse lineup of mascots to Old Trafford.

“It is rare for 11 mascots to lead out the team, and their inclusion shows both Manchester United and Chevrolet’s desire to mark this very special day.”

As well as serving as mascots, the chosen children will attend the famous Manchester United Soccer School, meet club legends and receive a tour of Old Trafford.

Since announcing partnership with the team in 2012, Chevrolet has attempted to use football to spread the ‘power of play’ worldwide, and donated nearly a million footballs to the One World Futbol Project.

The project supplies more than 26 million children in 60 countries across the world with footballs to play with.

In addition to that, Chevrolet’s cars have proven popular with Manchester United players, both past and present.

Both former defender Alex Buttner, who left the team earlier this year, and current winger Nani have both been spotted driving Chevrolet’s hugely popular fifth-generation Camaro.

The latest version of the Camaro was released late last year after making its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

It comes well-equipped with a wide range of features, both powerful and stylish, with a 6.2-litre V8 engine that’s matched with six-speed manual transmission to produce a potent 426bhp.

Cruise control also comes as standard, along with full leather upholstery and 20-inch alloy wheels, plus rear park assist and a rear parking camera.

In addition, the newest Camaro also comes complete with Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment/telematics system that allows internet access, as well as the use of downloadable applications.

The new Chevrolet Camaro is available from £35,320 for the coupe version, while the convertible has a starting price of £40,320.
