Mazda has been named the ‘Best Car Manufacturer’ for the third time at this year’s annual Which? awards.
The award was given to the Japanese carmaker at the official awards ceremony held in London’s Kings Place yesterday.
Launched in 2007, the awards are presented to companies who ‘consistently get it right’ for their consumers and aims to celebrate the very best businesses in the UK.
Mazda was one of 11 winners this year and fought off stiff competition from Audi, BMW, Honda and Skoda to claim the title, which the company won first in 2008 and also last year.
According to Which? Magazine: “Mazda is a worthy winner with more than two thirds of its cars rated as best buys and scored well with owners for reliability and satisfaction.
“The Mazda3 offers a winning combination of fuel economy, style and driving enjoyment. The Mazda6, launched in 2013, continues to impress us with a premium car feel at a non-premium price.”
Mazda have also won separate accolades from Which? before, including their MX-5 model taking the title of ‘Most Reliable New Sports Car’ last year and the MX-5 was also named ‘Convertible of the Year’ by website Honest John in May.
In addition, Mazda was picked out by the What Car? JD Power customer satisfaction survey for having made massive gains, coming in at 11 places higher than where they ranked last year.
Customer Satisfaction Study
In the same survey, the Mazda2, Mazda6 and the MX-5 all earned top three positions in their respective categories in the customer satisfaction study.
Jeremy Thomson, Mazda UK managing director, said: “To be recognised by such a respected independent organisation as Which? is testament to the success of our convention-defying approach to creating and marketing cars. Our innovative fuel-saving SKYACTIV technology offers Mazda buyers the best of both worlds: big-engine performance and small-engine economy.”
He continued: “As emission-based car tax systems in the UK are destined to become ever more strict, our fuel-efficient, low-emission vehicles will continue to save consumers money, while ensuring a thrilling driving experience.”
Limited Edition MX-5
Earlier in the week, Mazda officially launched a limited edition run of just 1000 25th Anniversary MX-5 models. 750 of them will be available in the UK when they go on sale in early August.
This latest iteration of the MX-5, which is officially the world’s best-selling two-seater sports car, is due to feature a unique Soul Red Metallic finish and a 2.0-litre 157bhp engine.
